Samsung could delay the Galaxy S22 Ultra by three months
According to a tweet by Dohyun Kim, Samsung is expecting the phone to be extremely popular. It surmises that the demand will be so high, that it will have trouble keeping up with it. This is why it will delay the Galaxy S22 launch date by around three months. Some people will see this as Samsung being cocky, while others will see this as smart planning. We need to take into account the chip shortage that’s been going on for the past couple of years. It’s still bottlenecking a bunch of tech companies, and Samsung is no exception. Delaying the official launch is a better idea than releasing the phones with a low supply. Waiting three months for a product to launch is a lot better than three months of getting the “This item is unavailable” message. The tweet also remarks that the three-month wait is actually worse than the delay for the Galaxy Z Fold3. This could also point to other Samsung phones being delayed as well. We’re expecting to get the Galaxy Z Fold4 and the Galaxy Z Flip4 this year.
If the Galaxy foldables are pushed back, they could face some competition
If the rumors are correct, Google could be releasing its foldable phone called the Google Notepad this year. This phone is rumored to launch alongside the Pixel 7 phones. If the Galaxy foldables are pushed back too much, they could launch around the Notepad. The thing is that the Google Notepad is expected to be a fair bit less expensive than the Galaxy Z Fold4 at about $1,399. Launching later in the year could cost Samsung the edge. While we don’t believe that the Notepad will eat too much into the Galaxy Fold’s existing user base, the lower price tag could sway some users to pick up a Notepad as their first foldable. However, that’s set for further in the year. If you’re excited to pick up a Galaxy S22 Ultra, you’re most likely going to have to wait three months to get your hands on one. That may seem like a long time, but based on the rumors and leaks, it might be worth the wait.
