Thankfully, there’s a short list of Android phones that can successfully download and install the beta. It involves some of the most popular Android OEMs.
Before you get the beta
It’s nice being at the forefront of the latest software advancements from Google, but there are risks you need to know about. For starters, if you get onto the beta program, you’ll be installing often unstable software. Bugs can range from occasional graphical glitches to major software crashes. We recommend that you only get the beta software (at least the early beta software) on a secondary phone. Once you get the software on your phone, then you’re kind of stuck with it. If you join the beta program, you’re promptly given the update to the beta software. However, if you want to leave the beta program and revert to a stable build of the software, all of the data on your phone will be deleted. Google offers limited windows of time to exit the program and keep your data. If you want to take the risks, and if your phone is on the list, then you’re free to install the beta and experience the next evolution in Android.
Here’s a list of phones that can get the Android 13 beta
Starting with Google devices, your phone is eligible if it’s any Pixel phone from the Pixel 4 on. These are the Pixel 4/XL, Pixel 4a/4a 5g, Pixel 5, Pixel 5a, Pixel 6, and the Pixel 6 Pro. Xiaomi has three phones on this list. They are the Xiaomi 12, Xiaomi 12 Pro, and the Xiaomi Pad 5. Those are the only companies with more than one phone on the list. As for the remaining companies, we have: the Asus Zenfone 8, Lenovo P12 Pro, OnePlus 10 Pro, Oppo FindX Pro, Realme GT Pro, Sharp AQUOS sense6, Tecno Camon 19 Pro 5G, Vivo X80 Pro, and the ZTE Axon 40 Ultra. Just be sure to check the Android 13 beta and not the Android 12L beta.
