Xiaomi’s 200W fast charging could debut next year, likely in Q3
This rumor appeared in China, and it also claims that it could debut with the Mi MIX 5. Considering that the Mi MIX 4 launched a couple of days ago, we’re in for quite a wait. We may have to wait for 200W charging until Q3 2022. You may wonder, what about 120W fast wireless charging? Well, the report claims that we may have to wait a bit longer for that one. The Mi MIX 5 will allegedly come with 50W charging, not 120W, if this info is to be believed. It’s still too early to tell, though. The Xiaomi Mi MIX 4, for comparison’s sake, comes with 120W fast wired charging, and 50W fast wireless charging. That charging is so fast, that there’s really no rush for Xiaomi to deliver 200W fast charging.

The Mi MIX 4 can charge up fully in only 15 minutes at 120W. If you opt for wireless charging, you can get the phone to fully charge in only 28 minutes. That’s blazing fast, no matter how you look at it. So, if 120W charging is so blazing fast, how fast is 200W charging? Well, when Xiaomi demoed it earlier this year, it was capable of charging up a 4,000mAh battery in just 8 minutes. 120W wireless charging did it in 15 minutes, the same as 120W wired charging. It is completely realistic to expect the Mi MIX 5 to support 200W fast charging. Several companies managed to surprise us with 120W charging, including Xiaomi, so another step forward may not be that odd. We’ll see, but 200W charging may debut next year.
