FDA clearance delayed its US release
The Withings ScanWatch Horizon went on sale in some European countries, including Germany, France, and the UK, immediately after launch in September 2021. But its US release was delayed because the company hadn’t obtained the FDA approval for its ECG sensor. It hoped to get the approval before the end of 2021, targeting an early 2022 release. But the wait turned out to be a lot longer. If you remember, the original Withings ScanWatch also arrived in the US a lot later than Europe. Announced at the CES in January 2020, the device arrived stateside in November 2021. The same FDA clearance for the ECG sensor held back its release. It is currently selling for $280.
