Once you begin your journey in the kingdom of Hermes, it’s your job to piece together your broken memories and figure out what happened. As a souls-like title, Thymesia will push players to the brink in battle. So expect plenty of death. But as fans of the genre will know, death is not the end. Only through constant defeat can you learn to overcome the challenges you will no doubt face throughout the game.

The launch of Thymesia puts the power of the plague in your hands

Thymesia seems to have an interesting story but an even more interesting combat system. While the inhabitants of the game world have been negatively impacted by the plague, turning into gruesome monsters, the player can wield the plague against them. The game initially hands players a dagger for parrying and a saber for dealing damage as well as weakening armor, but Corvus can also use a talon attack to deal additional damage. On top of this, players can reive diseases from enemies and use them as powerful plague weapons. As expected, every single enemy also poses a deadly threat to the character. Requiring you to dodge, parry, and attack at just the right moments. The game ties this all together to weave a familiar combat system that demands the patience to learn attack patterns and the forethought to strike relentlessly when given the opportunity. Thymesia launches today on PC via Steam, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch. The game retails for $29.99, although you can currently save a little bit. Steam has it on sale for $22.49 until August 25, while PlayStation players can snag it for $23.99 until August 24 if they have a PlayStation Plus subscription. The game is also on sale for $23.99 for Xbox and Switch but doesn’t require a subscription for the savings. Steam PS5 Xbox Series X Nintendo Switch
