Twitter is reportedly asking some laid-off staff to come back
According to a report by Bloomberg, Twitter is now asking dozens of fired workers to come back. The source is citing two sources within the company. It is said that Twitter either let go some of these workers by accident, or didn’t realize it will need their experience. Engadget did reach out to Twitter for a comment, but did not get a response just yet. It is rumored that Twitter laid off around 3,800 people. It is also worth noting that Twitter is facing a lawsuit because of that. Elon Musk did comment on the layoffs by saying that he, unfortunately, had no choice. He said that the company is losing over $4 million a day, so things need to change. He also added that everyone who got fired was offered 3 months of severance, which is 50% more than legally required.
Twitter is facing a mass drop in revenue
Earlier than that, Musk confirmed a “massive drop in revenue”, mentioning activist groups in the process. He claimed that activist groups are pressuring advertisers, which affects the company quite a bit. He did say that these layoffs won’t affect the company’s content moderation. Musk said that Twitter’s “strong commitment to content moderation remains absolutely unchanged”. He also added that the platform has seen a decrease in hate speech recently. As most of you know by now, Elon Musk took over Twitter recently, following a $44 billion deal. That deal took place following months of controversy, as Musk tried to get out of the deal. He claimed he was misinformed about the number of bots on the platform.
