Now, 9To5Google’s Dylan Roussell enabled some of these features early, but they remain hidden deep within Android, and they are not functional. Thus, you will want to take this news with a grain of salt. Since these potential features are hidden so deep within Android, they are still half-baked. Not only that, but they can easily be taken away before the official release.

There are several features that may come with the March 2023 beta release

Starting off with something that people will definitely like, Android 13 might introduce a grayscale theme for Material You. As it stands, Android will take the colors present in your wallpaper and apply them to the system theme. This means that, if you wanted to have a grayscale theme, you will need a black-and-white image. However, it appears that there will be a default grayscale theme option under the basic colors.

Next, there could be a Quick Launch feature. As it stands, when you do a search for an app using the Google search bar in the Pixel launcher, you will see it pop up as one of the search results. However, with the Quick Lunch feature, you will be able to simply press the enter button after typing in the app’s name and that will launch the app.

Android 13 might separate the ringtone volume slider and the notification volume slider. This is perfect for people who want to silence notifications or the ringtone independently.

With the March Android 13 beta release, Google may revamp the back gesture for the first time since its introduction. When using the back gesture, we currently only see an arrow form from the side of the screen. However, after the revamp, the back button might be housed inside of a little blob that stretches as you pull it. Android 13 might revamp how you organize apps on your home screen. The “Remove” and “Uninstall” buttons could be moved to the bottom, and we may no longer see this screen change in size as you’re placing/moving apps.

The next change applies to tablets and foldables. The taskbar at the bottom could get a revamp. Instead of being there all the time, it will hide itself. To reveal it, you will simply swipe up from the bottom of the screen.

Google might take notes from Samsung Dex

Last but not least, Google might be testing out a desktop mode. This might be one of the most notable features of the March beta update. We weren’t able to see much on this one, but it appears that Google might be prepping for an experience similar to that of Samsung’s Dex.

We should get more information on these potential changes as we get closer to the official release.
