There is a software update waiting for you on the Pixel Watch… well, two of them
Well, there are two updates, actually. One minor update is supposed to arrive during setup. The second, larger (system) update is coming after you complete the setup. Google said that “users will need to complete updates by placing the watch on the charger to receive a system update and in the Google Play Store right after set-up”. So, what does this update deliver exactly? The changelog says the following: “There are new features for your watch, including improved GPS accuracy”. So, we know that it improves GPS accuracy, and that’s about it. This is probably just an update filled with optimizations, and we’re not complaining. The Google Pixel Watch is not particularly cheap. The Pixel 7 Pro starts at $899, while the Pixel Watch is priced at $349 (Wi-Fi model).
The Pixel Watch offers a rather minimalistic design
The Pixel Watch offers a rather minimalistic design, and it’s quite compact. It’s interesting that Google opted to go that route. Still, many people will appreciate that, as this watch is far from other, larger watches on the market. The vast majority of them are quite large, actually. There are two buttons on the right side of the watch. One of them doubles as a rotating crown, and those are the only buttons here. The watch is obviously round, and it supports wireless charging. Google opted for proprietary watch band connectors here. The good thing is that watch bands can look like they’re coming from the watch itself, without visible lugs. The bad news is, you can’t use standard watch bands, and the proprietary ones are quite pricey.
