The Snapdragon 895 may offer a considerably more powerful GPU
Considering the source, we have no reason not to believe it. He flat out mentioned the SD8450, which is the codename of the Snapdragon 895. It’s not often that we see company execs go public with such information. Mr. Jin actually revealed this information as a part of the Lenovo Legion 3 Pro teaser post. The Lenovo Legion 3 Pro will obviously feature the Snapdragon 895 SoC. That is the company’s upcoming gaming smartphone, by the way. The Snapdragon 895 is expected to arrive later this year, during the company’s annual event in Hawaii. Qualcomm has been struggling to meet the demand for the Snapdragon 888 due to chip shortage. The company even released some inferior chips to fill in the gap.
The Snapdragon X65 5G modem will be integrated
We don’t know much about the Snapdragon 895 at this point. Evan Blass, a prominent tipster, did say that we can expect this chip to integrate Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X65 5G modem-RF system. This modem is built on a 4nm process in case you’re wondering. The Snapdragon 895 will likely use the 1 x 3 x 4 configuration for its cores. It is expected to use the Cortex-X2, Cortex-A710, and Cortex-A510 core clusters.
The Adreno 730 GPU name represents a major improvement
Now, in regards to the GPU, it will allegedly be called the Adreno 730. If you find that surprising, you’re not the only one. The GPU in the Snapdragon 888 is the Adreno 660. So, that’s a huge jump right there. Perhaps Qualcomm plans to do this to signify how large of an improvement we’re looking at. More details about the Snapdragon 895 are expected to follow in the coming weeks / months. We’re still some time away from the launch of this processor.
