This is a handy addition since Expert RAW is all about giving you control over how you want to capture a scene. The app gives you granular controls over various parameters such as shutter speed, exposure, ISO, and more so you can get the desired result. With the new feature, you can always have your custom presets ready to kick in whenever you want. Just open the camera app and start capturing. The other new feature that Samsung has announced for Expert RAW today is the ability to select the image format. The app currently saves images in both RAW and JPEG formats. However, you may not always want to save two copies of the same image on your device. As such, you can now choose the default format for your images captured with Expert RAW. The existing option to save in both formats isn’t going away, though. Samsung says it is also working on other optimizations and feature enhancements for Expert RAW. The updated app will roll out to compatible devices in the coming days.

Expert RAW for the Galaxy S20 Ultra, Note 20 Ultra, and Fold 2 delayed

When Samsung announced the rollout of the Expert RAW app for the Galaxy S22 series in February, it said the Galaxy S20 Ultra, Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, and the Galaxy Z Fold 2 will get it in the first half of 2022. Unfortunately, we are now in the second half of the year and the app has yet to roll out to these three phones. The company today said users will have to wait until September for it. Samsung further revealed that Expert RAW will not work with the Galaxy S20 Ultra’s telephoto lens. It was reportedly not able to output Bayer RAW, the base for the app’s Computational RAW. So the app will only work with the main camera and the ultrawide lens. The company didn’t mention any such limitations for the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra and the Galaxy Z Fold 2. Note that Expert RAW is not compatible with the vanilla and Plus models of the Galaxy S21 and Galaxy S20 series, as well as the Galaxy Note 20. We will let you know when the app rolls out to the Galaxy S20 Ultra, Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, and Galaxy Z Fold 2.
