The monitor features a 5,120 x 2,880 resolution with a color gamut of 99% DCI-P3 all in a 27-inch panel. Samsung says this will help the monitor provide crisp, true-to-form details as well as clear and precise color representation “even in complicated or nuanced visual environments.” One of the more useful specs is the matte display to cut down on glare. With the matte display in place, less light will be reflected off of it. Which of course will decrease the glare. Samsung is quick to point out that this will help with preventing distraction while working. But really, we all know glare is simply annoying to deal with. So the less of it, the better regardless of the situation.

The Samsung ViewFinity S9 has a vertical mode

What is surely going to be one of the monitor’s most loved features is the vertical orientation mode. Similar to the Cockpit mode on the Odyssey Ark, the ViewFinity S9 can be adjusted to go from a landscape to portrait orientation should it be better for a specific type of workflow. The monitor also includes a detachable 4K camera that can be used for Zoom calls or other video conferencing options. And while this monitor is designed more for professional settings, it still runs on the Samsung Smart TV platform. This means access to things like Netflix and other streaming TV apps for entertainment during downtime. Users will find ports for HDMI, DisplayPort, and USB-C for plugging in desktops or laptops, as well as other devices like flash drives or peripherals for transferring media and other data. The Samsung ViewFinity S9 will launch later this year. It will likely be available from both Samsung and its retail partners, although, Samsung hasn’t announced official pricing yet.
