As of this writing, the June SMR (Security Maintenance Release) for the Galaxy Z Fold 2 is available to users in Germany. The update comes with firmware version F916BXXU2GVE9. It should soon reach other European countries and gradually enter markets in more regions, including the US. The June update for the Galaxy A73 5G, on the other hand, is first rolling out in Malaysia. The newly launched premium mid-ranger is picking up the latest SMR with firmware version A736BXXU1AVE3. This update will also expand globally in the coming days. Both Galaxy Z Fold 2 and Galaxy A73 5G should be getting fixes for dozens of vulnerabilities with this update. Unfortunately, Samsung hasn’t yet published the detailed June patch, so we can’t specify the vulnerabilities that the new release fixes. We should have that information soon and will let you know accordingly. The two devices may also get picking up additional bug fixes and/or improvements with the new software package.
Samsung starts to pick up the pace with the June SMR rollout
It doesn’t come as a surprise anymore if Samsung rolls out a new security patch to its devices ahead of time. The company has been doing so for more than a year now, often releasing next month’s SMR a week earlier. But the Korean behemoth took things up a notch for the June SMR. It began the rollout 12 days before we entered June. The Galaxy Tab S7 series picked up the latest SMR first a couple of weeks back. The Galaxy S21 series followed a week or so later, followed by the Galaxy S22 series yesterday. Today, we have the Galaxy Z Fold 2 and Galaxy A73 5G also receiving the latest security update. If you’re using either of these phones and haven’t yet received this month’s security patch, you should soon. be on the lookout for a notification in the coming days. You can also manually check for OTA (over the air) updates from the Software update menu in the Settings app. Wait a few more days if there’s no update available currently. Users of other eligible Samsung smartphones and tablets can also expect to receive the June SMR in the coming days and weeks. We will keep you posted.
