A number of improvements have been made to the device to make it Samsung’s best and most advanced smartwatch ever. Notably, Samsung has redesigned the glass on the back of the case. The company says it reshaped the curvature of the back glass so that sensors have better contact with your wrist. Which it says will help those sensors perform more optimally. As far as which sensors the watch contains, users will find the usual plus some new additions. For example, there’s now a skin temperature sensor. Something which the Galaxy Watch 4 series was lacking. There’s also a new and improved BIA sensor that will enable advanced sleep coaching features. Now, the watch can tell you how long you slept, as well as inform you of your time spent snoring, what your blood oxygen levels were during sleep, and list out your sleep stages.

The Galaxy Watch 5 has a bigger battery

Sensors weren’t the only thing Samsung improved here. The Galaxy Watch 5 also comes with a 15% bigger battery. This will give the watch up to 50 hours of battery life on a single charge. And once it runs out, it can be recharged up to 45% in just 30 minutes. How close it comes to that will have to wait till actual testing. But overall, that’s a pretty decent improvement over last year. As far as battery specifics, the 40mm model will come with a 294mAh battery while the 44mm model will have a 410mAh battery. The watch also features the use of sapphire crystal glass which Samsung says helps make it 60% stronger than the previous model. And it comes with a 5ATM, IP68 water resistance rating.

The watch comes in multiple colors and starts at $279.99
