The Korean media recently reported that Samsung has locked an “early February” date for the Galaxy S23 launch. While we still don’t have the date, rumors suggest the new flagships could break cover on the first week of the month with sales beginning in mid-Ferbruary. Some reports even mentioned a February 17 date for the market release. If true, the phones would have arrived a week earlier than the Galaxy S22 series this year. The current Samsung flagships launched on February 9 and arrived on the market on February 25. But, the latest rumor suggests we may see a similar release timeline for the Galaxy S23 series as well. The reason is Samsung’s pricing dilemma. The company is reportedly finding it difficult to finalize the pricing of the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, and Galaxy S23 Ultra. The rising inflation means the Korean firm could take a profit hit if it keeps the prices unchanged. However, increasing the prices may affect sales. Samsung is likely monitoring the market and taking its time to decide the pricing for the new flagships.
The Galaxy S23 series may bring enough upgrades to justify a price increase
Should a price increase for the Galaxy S23 series be inevitable, Samsung may still be able to justify it. The new Galaxy flagships may bring quite a lot of upgrades over the current models. For the first time in several years, the company will ship the flagships with the same processor globally. The Galaxy S23 phones will feature a higher-clocked version of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 wherever you buy it from. The upcoming Samsung flagships will also equip improved OLED displays with tougher protection, a bigger and faster fingerprint scanner, improved cameras, bigger batteries, and the latest RAM and storage standards. These hardware improvements should be enough to justify a minor price increase for the Galaxy S23 trio. We will have to wait and see what Samsung decides now.
