Fingerprint sensor calibration for the Pixel 6 is now available, but it’s not what you think
This calibration option has been added for one purpose, for replaced displays. If you managed to shatter your display, and need it replaced, this is the tool you can use to recalibrate it. Do note that it may not be necessary for every screen replacement, though. Not many people heard of the Pixel Repair Tool thus far. That is not surprising, as this tool is not that well known. It can be really helpful to get your Pixel back on track if something goes wrong. It adds another option for installing updates as well. Now, even if you end up replacing your screen, chances are you won’t need to mess with this software yourself. Well, if you get it repaired through official channels, that is, as Google will take care of that for you. This tool is more aimed towards DIY (Do It Yourself) screen replacements, which some of you will surely try out at one point or another. The Pixel 6 and 6 Pro are quite slippery, and accidents will happen for some.
The Pixel 6 & 6 Pro don’t exactly have the best fingerprint scanner performance
It’s not exactly a secret that the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro don’t have the fastest or most accurate in-display fingerprint scanner. We’re not sure if that’s because of the scanner itself, or Google’s calibration. We hope it’s the latter, as that can be improved via updates. Having said that, there’s a trick to improve the performance of that fingerprint scanner now. How? Well, you can enable the “Increase touch sensitivity” option which sits under “Display” settings. We have a full guide here, if you’d like to try it out. This allegedly helps this fingerprint scanner work better, so it doesn’t hurt to try it out, right? You can always disable it if you don’t end up seeing an improvement.
