What is the Instagram kids app? It’s fun creating and sharing content on Instagram, but it can also be a funnel for inappropriate content and a point of contact between predators and unsuspecting youths. According to the Instagram team, children are able to access age-restricted content on the internet by misrepresenting their ages. The team is developing an app targeted at tweens between 10 and 12 years of age. This app will only display family-friendly content, it will not display ads, and kids will need their parents’ permission to sign up....

According to the Bloomberg report (via Engadget), Twitter claims that the lawsuit is against the company’s First Amendment free speech rights. Also, Trump has repeatedly violated the rules he has adopted to open accounts on the platform. Twitter concludes that mandatory lifting of Trump’s ban on the platform would challenge “bedrock principles of constitutional law.” “Twitter is a private actor that is not constrained by the federal constitution,” and the government “cannot force the private operator of an online platform, such as Twitter, to disseminate speech with which the operator disagrees....

Twitter has just announced that the Android app can now match the device’s dark/light mode settings. A recent update for the app adds a new “Use device settings” option under the “Dark mode” menu in Display settings. It replaces the “Automatic at sunset” option that existed before. If you select the new “Use device settings” option, Twitter will automatically match your phone’s dark/light mode settings. Meaning when your phone is set to dark mode, Twitter will also switch to dark mode....

You can now pin your Twitter conversations, as the feature is now free Do note that this is not a new feature, but it wasn’t free up until now. It was a feature exclusive to Twitter Blue subscribers. According to the latest report by the UK government, the CMA wants to launch a probe into Google’s market power in mobile browsers and Apple’s restrictions on cloud gaming. Also, the Play Store payment practices that force developers to use Google’s in-built payment system will be investigated. The CMA says it has spent years researching the two companies’ mobile ecosystems and has concluded that they have created an effective duopoly....
