For the uninitiated, OSOM is a new company formed by the team behind the Essential Phone 1 (PH-1) after the latter went defunct. OSOM announced its first phone last year, calling it the OSOM OV1 to evoke a feeling of continuity from the PH-1. But earlier this year, the company renamed the phone to Saga and teamed up with Solana Mobile for its market release. It also pushed back the launch from late 2022 to early 2023. Amid all this, we got to know a few things about the Saga, including its screen size and processor. And while the official launch is still months away, Solana Mobile has now revealed the phone’s detailed specs and the price too. The unofficial Essential Phone 2 will cost a whopping $1,000, which may fully justify what you are getting. Check out the phone’s specs below.
OSOM Saga specs
The OSOM Saga sports a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with FHD+ resolution (1080×2400 pixels) and a 120Hz refresh rate. It is powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor paired with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage, expandable up to an additional 512GB via a microSD card. You get a dual-camera setup on the back, consisting of a 50MP primary shooter with OIS (optical image stabilization) and a 12MP ultrawide lens. The phone features a 16MP wide-angle camera on the front. Fueling this phone is a 4,110mAh battery. It supports wireless charging but OSOM isn’t detailing the charging speeds yet. In March this year, OSOM announced a secure charging cable that lets you physically disconnect data transfer prongs when plugged into your computer. This will help keep your data secure. The Saga will likely get this cable. The first-gen OSOM phone will run stock Android 13 out of the box. Other highlights include a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, Bluetooth 5.2, Wi-Fi 6E, and NFC. The handset comes in a single black color. It features a ceramic back and a stainless steel frame with titanium accents. The whole package measures 164 x 75.3 x 8.4mm in dimension (10.2 mm thick at the camera bump) and weighs 247 grams. OSOM says the Saga will come with a secure speed vault to store your cryptocurrencies, NFTs, and other digital items. The first 10,000 buyers of the phone will also get a limited-release collection of NFTs. If you’re interested in this phone, you can join the waitlist by paying a refundable $100 fee here. The device will go on sale in early 2023 in the US, Canada, and Europe.
