OPPO is getting ready to deliver a Galaxy Z Fold 3 competitor
The tipster says that OPPO’s first foldable will feature a rather large main display, between 7.8 and 8 inches. That means that it will be larger than the one the Galaxy Z Fold 3 has to offer. Samsung’s flagship foldable includes a 7.6-inch panel. That display will offer QHD+ resolution, it is said, while it will be an OLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate. The tipster also mentioned that the device will be fueled by the Snapdragon 888 SoC. He specifically mentioned the Snapdragon 888, not the ‘Plus’ model, though there’s no big difference between the two. The phone will also include a side-facing fingerprint scanner, it seems, just like the Galaxy Z Fold 3. A 50-megapixel main camera (Sony’s IMX766 sensor) will be placed on the back of the device, allegedly, while a 32-megapixel selfie camera will also be included. The last piece of information shared by the source indicates that Android 11 will come pre-installed on the device, with OPPO’s ColorOS skin on top of it.
It will be similar in dimensions to the Huawei Mate X2
Now, in the comments, the tipster also said that this phone will be similar to the Huawei Mate X2 as far as dimensions are concerned. All of this indicates that OPPO is preparing a direct competitor to the Galaxy Z Fold 3. This device won’t be cheap, that’s for sure, but it will almost certainly be cheaper than the Galaxy Z Fold 3. We’re not sure when it will launch, but previous rumors stated we may have to wait until H1 2022. It was originally supposed to arrive by the end of 2021. This will be OPPO’s first foldable phone, but the company already announced a working rollable smartphone. Its name is the OPPO X 2021, but that phone is not available for purchase, nor will it be. A commercial rollable smartphone from the company is also coming, though.
