Like most other Samsung flagships, the Galaxy S20 FE LTE comes in two processor variants — Snapdragon and Exynos. Both variants are now picking up the One UI 4.1 update in various countries across the world. According to SamMobile, who first reported this rollout, the OTA (over the air) release is now available to users in several Asian, European, and South American countries. Users in the US should soon receive the latest update. The new firmware version for the Exynos-powered Galaxy S20 FE LTE in Europe is G780FXXS8DVC2. The Snapdragon-powered variants are receiving the same update with firmware versions G780GXXU3CVC2 in Malaysia (Asia) and G780GXXS3BVC2 in South America. The build numbers may vary slightly depending on your region and processor, but the most important thing is you’re getting One UI 4.1. One UI 4.1 is the latest iteration of Samsung’s custom Android software. Based on Android 12, the Korean firm debuted the new version of the software in the Galaxy S22 series last month. It is now gradually rolling out the update to its older eligible smartphones. Despite being a relatively minor update, it brings quite a lot to the table. There are new personalization options, an improved Samsung Keyboard with Grammarly integration, customizable RAM Plus, improved Color Pallete, enhanced AR Emoji, Google Duo Live Sharing, improved Bixby Routines, enhanced Object Eraser, and much more. Samsung has also included the GOS (Game Optimization Service) related changes in the One UI 4.1 update.
Galaxy S20 FE LTE is also getting the March security update
The One UI 4.1 update for the Galaxy S20 FE LTE also brings the March security patch. The latest SMR (security maintenance release) contains fixes for over 50 vulnerabilities. The majority of those were found in Google’s version of Android. But there are quite a few SVEs (Samsung Vulnerabilities and Exposures) as well. These are vulnerabilities only affecting the Korean brand’s custom Android software, i.e. One UI. If you’re using the LTE variant of the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE and have yet to receive the One UI 4.1 update and March security patch, you should soon. Watch out for a notification about the OTA rollout. You can also manually check for updates from the Settings app on your phone.
