The revelation comes from Ice Universe on Weibo (via SamMobile), who also shared the firmware version for the update – G998U1UEU5CVA4. All signs point towards the Galaxy S21 Ultra being the first to get the One UI 4.1 update next month. Meanwhile, the upcoming Galaxy S22 lineup will feature One UI 4.1 out of the box.
One UI 4.1 is unlikely to bring significant changes
There’s no word as to what changes the new version of One UI will bring to the table. As the name suggests, it may only bring incremental changes to existing devices. But we’re hoping for a few additions, especially the new software features that could debut with the Galaxy S22 next month. In any case, don’t expect One UI 4.1 to bring radical changes like the ones users experienced while switching from One UI 3.1.1 to One UI 4. It shouldn’t come as a surprise that the Galaxy S21 Ultra is on top of the list to get One UI 4.1. The smartphone is still high up on the South Korean manufacturer’s device hierarchy, along with the Galaxy Z Flip 3 and the Z Fold 3. Speaking of which, the two 2021 foldables should also receive One UI 4.1 not too long after the Galaxy S21 Ultra. The One UI 4.1 update timeline for Samsung’s older devices is a mystery right now. Hopefully, more information will follow as we inch closer towards the arrival of the Galaxy S22. Since One UI 4.1 is a minor update, there likely won’t be a repeat of the One UI 4 update rollout fiasco last month. Samsung was forced to pause the Android 12 update owing to multiple functionality-related issues on devices like the Galaxy S21 and the Galaxy Z Fold 3. But it didn’t take long for the company to rectify the issues and resume the One UI 4 update for its flagship and mid-tier devices.
