Samsung first released the stable One UI 4.0 update to the Galaxy S21 series in mid-November. The Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 picked it up a few weeks later. But then came problems galore. The big update caused numerous issues on the two foldables, forcing the company to temporarily pull the plug on it. While the Korean giant fixed the issues in a few days and resumed the rollout, a compatibility issue with Google Play forced another suspension. It appears those issues have now been fixed too. Earlier today, Samsung resumed the stable One UI 4.0 update for the Galaxy S21 series, Galaxy Z Fold 3, and Galaxy Z Flip 3 in its homeland South Korea. The rollout has now crossed those boundaries. As of this writing, the two foldables are receiving the OTA (over the air) update in a few European countries, including the Netherlands. Other regions will also likely join the fun very soon. If you’re rocking either of these phones, watch out for an update with the firmware version ending BUL6. The Galaxy Z Fold 2 is also receiving the stable One UI 4.0 update as of today. Galaxy S20 could receive the stable One UI 4.0 update next
By the end of December 2020, Samsung had released the stable One UI 3.0 update to only three Galaxy phones/series. It has already released the stable One UI 4.0 update to four phones so far this year — Galaxy S21 series, Galaxy Z Fold 3, Galaxy Z Flip 3, and Galaxy Z Fold 2. We wouldn’t be surprised if one more joins the party over the next couple of days. A Samsung executive recently confirmed that the Galaxy S20 series will no longer receive One UI 4.0 beta builds. Meaning, the next update for the phones will bring the stable version. It remains to be seen whether the rollout begins before the end of this year.
