Design-wise, it looks like a combination of the Galaxy S22 Ultra and Vivo X70 Pro+, at least to my eyes. It actually does look quite nice and very premium. Its top and bottom sides are flat, while the sides are quite curved, including its display.
The Nubia Z40 Pro offers an advanced cooling system, premium design
There is a huge camera island on the back of the phone, where the company’s logo is also located. The device is made out of metal and glass. There is a special AG glass included on the back.
The phone also comes with a multi-dimensional cooling system. It includes liquid cooling, a VC soaking plate, and several layers of graphite sheet. On top of that, it’s also worth noting a rather interesting 64-megapixel main camera, with a custom Sony IMX787 sensor that offers 35mm equivalent portrait focal length.
A 144Hz AMOLED display is also included, along with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC
This smartphone features a 6.67-inch fullHD+ (2400 x 1080) curved AMOLED display. This panel supports a 144Hz refresh rate, and a 360Hz touch sampling rate. It also supports 10-bit color depth. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC fuels the phone, which is Qualcomm’s most powerful processor to date. The device comes in 8GB, 12GB, and 16GB RAM (LPDDR5) options. The first two include 256GB of UFS 3.1 flash storage, while the last one has 512GB of storage. Android 12 comes pre-installed on this phone, along with MyOS 12 skin. There are two SIM card slots included in the phone, and an in-display fingerprint scanner is also a part of the package.
The device supports 80W fast wired charging
A 5,000mAh battery powers this phone, and supports 80W fast wired charging. There is also a variant with a 4,600mAh battery, which supports 66W fast wired charging, and 15W magnetic wireless charging. The latter is referred to as the ‘Special Edition’ model. A 64-megapixel main camera (f/1.6 aperture, Sony IMX787 sensor, OIS, 35mm lens) is backed by a 50-megapixel ultrawide camera (116-degree FoV, f/2.2 aperture). An 8-megapixel periscope camera (f/3.4 aperture, OIS, 9x Hybrid Zoom) is also included on the back. You’ll also find a laser autofocus sensor on the back.
A single 16-megapixel camera (f/2.45) can be found on the front. There is a display camera hole for it, by the way. Bluetooth 5.2 is supported on the device, and there are two speakers included as well.
Two different models are on offer, one of which supports magnetic wireless charging
The Nubia Z40 Pro comes in Interstellar Black and Galaxy Silver color options. The regular variant’s price starts at CNY3,399 ($538), and goes all the way up to CNY4,499 ($712). The Special Edition model comes in 12GB and 16GB RAM models, which cost CNY4,299 ($680) and CNY5,999 ($950). The magnetic charger is priced at CNY119 ($19). It remains to be seen if this phone will make it to global markets, but it’s unlikely.
