The Nothing Phone (1)’s Android 13 update may not be around the corner
Carl Pei was responding to Nicolas Lellouche on Twitter. He is a journalist over at Numerama. He tweeted out at Carl Pei, asking when will Android 13 launch for the Nothing Phone (1). Carl Pei was seemingly not amused, and said the following: “A product is more than just its specs, features, and version numbers”. While his words are true, he completely ignored the question at hand. This doesn’t really have to mean anything. Perhaps Android 13 is coming soon for the device. We do think Carl’s response would be fairly different if that were the case, though. Officials tend to ignore questions and give out somewhat salty answers when they don’t have good news to share. That’s at least what we’ve seen in the past. We’ll have to wait in order to see if that’s the case here.
Nothing is a new, and small company, so patience may be required
If Android 13 doesn’t arrive really soon for the Nothing Phone (1), the company should be understood. Nothing is a relatively new company, and this is its first smartphone. It takes time to adapt a new version of Android to a particular device, and Nothing’s team is much smaller than Samsung’s, OPPO’s, OnePlus’, and so on. Google started rolling out Android 13 for Pixel phones about a week ago, and other OEMs are expected to start doing the same in the near future. Samsung will probably be amongst the first, while OnePlus usually has a good track record as well. Some other companies do too. We’ll see.
