This new OnePlus 9R update improves security and squashes bugs

The first change that it’s worth noting is a new security patch. It brings a September security patch to the device. In addition to that, it updates the GMS package to 2021.06. This update also fixes some bugs that popped up on the device, some of which are quite annoying. Quick Reply has been annoying users, but that won’t be the case anymore. Quick Reply did work, but it wasn’t exactly the best experience. Some OnePlus 9R users also experienced a Warp charging bug. Warp Charge didn’t exactly work for a small number of users, but OnePlus says that issue has been fixed now as well. Gmail has been crashing for some users as well, for whatever reason. OnePlus did not say what was happening, but it did say that it shouldn’t happen anymore. Gmail should work normally from now on. The last entry in the changelog has to do with OnePlus Gallery. OnePlus says that it optimized the app fluency. All in all, the Gallery app should work far better now.

The update is rolling out as we speak

This update is rolling out as we speak. It’s rolling out over-the-air (OTA), and it should arrive to your phone in the coming days, if it hasn’t already. Do note that using a VPN to speed up the process won’t work. The OnePlus 9R, as most of you know, arrived back in April to India. The phone does look really nice on paper, as its specifications are quite powerful, while the device itself doesn’t look half bad either. It is fueled by the Snapdragon 870 SoC, while it features a 6.55-inch fullHD+ Fluid AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. It comes in both 8GB and 12GB RAM variants, and it packs in a 4,500mAh battery with 65W fast charging.
