According to XDA (via Phone Arena), the Android 12 update for the Moto G100 is currently available in Brazil. It is a limited rollout at the moment, so customers in other regions may have to wait a while to get Android 12. Oddly, this software update includes the March 2022 security patch and not from April 2022.

The update comes in at 1.5GB, carrying the build number S1RT32.41-20-16. Expectedly, it includes a flurry of new changes, especially compared to Android 11. Motorola leverages an almost vanilla version of Android, so the changes should be in line with stock Android 12. Customers will find the all-new Material Design philosophy across the software with new widgets, a privacy dashboard, and the new theming system. Meanwhile, Motorola’s custom UI (My UX) brings a new “Ready For” experience and some new camera features.
The company didn’t say when the update would be available for the rest of the world. But since this is a phased rollout, it shouldn’t take long for global customers of the Moto G100 to receive the notification. If the update is available in your region but hasn’t appeared on your device yet, you can head over to Settings to pull it manually. The Moto G100 was one of the first in the G-series of Motorola phones to feature a Snapdragon 8 series chipset. This marked a significant shift for the Moto G lineup as it was always marketed as a mid-range or budget offering. Although the phone made its global debut in March last year, it didn’t arrive in the U.S. until July. Despite the delay, the early price tag of $499 made it an exciting prospect for customers. The device currently retails for around $400 via online retailers. With a 6.7-inch Full HD+ (90Hz) screen, and the octa-core Snapdragon 870 chipset, the Moto G100 still holds some value. Based on this hardware, the smartphone should be on course for the Android 13 update later this year or in 2023.
