The Microsoft Surface Go 3 comes in two processor choices: Intel Pentium Gold 6500Y and Core i3-10100Y. If you recall, last year’s model was available with the Pentium Gold 4425Y or the Core m3 processor. So that’s a straightforward upgrade from the company this year. It promises up to 60 percent faster processor performance over the Surface Go 2. The Core i3 variant will be the faster of the two, of course. For graphics duties, the Surface Go 3 features the Intel UHD Graphics 615. But as said earlier, there’s not much else to talk about here. Most other key specs remain the same. Of course, being a generation newer, it’s Windows 11-ready but that’s about it. The device still features the same 10.5-inch PixelSense touchscreen display with a 1,920 x 1,080 pixels resolution. Memory options are also limited to either 4GB or 8GB of LPDDR3 RAM and 64GB of eMMC or 128GB/256GB of SSD storage. You do get a microSD slot for expandable storage though.
The Surface Go 3 features a 5-megapixel camera with a 1080p resolution in the front. On the back, we have an 8-megapixel auto-focus camera with the same resolution. The device has dual far-field Studio Mics and 2W stereo speakers with Dolby Audio. There’s also a 3.5mm headphone jack here. On the battery front, Microsoft is promising up to 11 hours lifetime on a single charge with typical usage. The device charges over a USB Type-C port. Sensors on board include an ambient light sensor, accelerometer, gyroscope, and magnetometer. We also have Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.0 support here. The whole package measures 245 mm x 175 mm x 8.3 mm in dimension and weighs 544 grams.
Microsoft Surface Go 3: Price and availability
The Microsoft Surface Go 3 is now available for pre-order in select markets, with general sales beginning on October 5th. Prices start at $399.99 for the base variant with the Pentium chip, 4GB of RAM, and 64GB of eMMC storage. The Core i3 variant with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of SSD storage costs $629.99. The device is available in a single Platinum color option. The Surface Go 3 also supports the Microsoft Pen Protocol and is compatible with Surface Go Type covers. But the company, unsurprisingly, isn’t including these accessories in the box. You’ll have to purchase them separately. The keyboard covers start at $99.99 while the Surface Pen is available at $67.99 if you pre-order the device now. Microsoft says it will also launch LTE models of the Surface Go 3 in the coming months. They will cost $100 more than their respective Wi-Fi-only models.
