Xbox Game Pass Ultimate is the only tier that offers access to cloud gaming. Prior to today’s rollout, Microsoft Flight Simulator was only available for console owners who had an Xbox Series X|S. After almost a year of exclusivity on PC. But thanks to the advent of cloud gaming, previous generation Xbox owners get to pick up their pilot license. Microsoft says the game is available from today. So you should immediately see it available to play through your console if you subscribe.

Using Xbox cloud gaming, you can play Microsoft Flight Simulator on your phone

One of the great features of Xbox cloud gaming through Xbox Game Pass Ultimate is the ability to play your games anywhere. Sure, you need an internet connection, but beyond that, your options are vast. You can start playing Microsoft Flight Simulator on the Xbox One at home, then pick up where you left off using your smartphone if you have to leave. This should allow a lot more people the opportunity to give the game a try. For PC, you need a pretty beefy rig to play the game at max settings. Even on lower settings the game was demanding. Now none of that matters. Microsoft also notes that the multiplayer experience is the same across the board. Stating that “everyone shares the same air space regardless of the device they’re playing on.”

Xbox cloud gaming is powered by Xbox Series X hardware

All of this is made possible because Microsoft updated its cloud gaming hardware. In October of last year, the cloud gaming infrastructure was moved from Xbox One S hardware to the Xbox Series X hardware. Which opened up support for Flight Simulator down the road. Immediately though it allowed users of the cloud gaming feature on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate to access 1080p streams. As well as 60 frames per second performance.
