Depending on the region, the Mecool KD3 will bring Google TV

The streaming software is one of the main draws for the Mecool KD3. depending on what region you live in, you will either get Android TV or Google Tv. Both are systems are great, but Google TV brings just a little bit more. With Google TV, you have access to all of the main streaming services such as Netflix, Hulu, Disney Plus, Sling TV, Peacock, Tubi, etc. Not only that, but you get access to a lot of live streaming television. Google TV aims to give you the best of both worlds. Since this is a Google product, you can tell that the Google Assistant will be implemented deeply into the software. You’ll be able to summon the assistant to help you find content and navigate the user interface.

The hardware is decent, but not the best

Aside from the software, the hardware gets the job done at best. First off, it has 2GB of RAM and, unfortunately, it has only 8GB of storage. This will be an issue for people who like to download a lot of different applications. You will definitely reach the app limit quickly. As for the device itself, it’s a really small and low-profile device. It’s a stick that plugs right into the HDMI port in your TV. It’s perfect if you don’t have much space on your shelf or a set-top box. The Mecool KD3 also comes with a Google TV remote. This helps make up for some of the hardware shortcomings. The Google TV remote has pretty much everything you need to navigate the operating system smoothly. It has the standard volume and channel buttons with a standard D-pad. Also, you get shortcuts to YouTube, Netflix, Prime Video, and the Google Play store along with a dedicated Google Assistant button. Rounding out the specs, the Mecool KD3 can stream 4K content and is certified to stream HDR10 content. So, this is definitely not a stick for those who are looking for a powerful streaming device. However, if you just want to get the basics down, then the Mecool KD3 should be perfect for you. It’s not available at the moment, but it will go on sale sometime after January 15th. When it goes on sale, it will cost $69.99.
