Battleground Buddies are coming to Hearthstone with the update
What’s probably the biggest part of the update is the addition of Battleground Buddies. Until this point, each of the 75 characters on the board fought alone. Now, with the Battleground Buddy system, each character has a minion to help in battle. What’s great is that all of the characters in the game have their own unique battleground buddy. This means that the team created 75 original minions for all of the characters. The Buddy will work in tandem with your character to deliver some additional damage to enemies. While you do battle, there will be a new progress bar that will fill up. We’re guessing that when the bar fills up, the Buddy will unleash a powerful attack. We’re still in the dark about some of the details, but we will all know when this launches on January 25th.
Other additions include the Mercenaries Training Grounds
Hearthstone introduced Mercenaries to the game as a way to vary up the gameplay. You would assemble a team of fighters and battle your way through different enemies with a select team of fighters. The company just announced a way to help them gain EXP without even having to do battle. On January 25, when the major update hits Hearthstone, players will be able to build the Training grounds. When you place your fighters into the training grounds, they will earn passive EXP. Along with this addition, there will be new mercenaries added to the roster. These new characters are Balinda Stonehearth, Captain Galvangar, Lokholar, and Wrathion, Sinestra.
There will be a new story based on Tavish Stormpike
With this new update, we are also getting a new story. The story will revolve around the mercenary named Tavish Strompike, and it includes fighting through eight bosses. After you defeat all of the bosses, you will get a Hunter pack. This will contain all Hunter cards from standard. Not only that, but the update will bring a special tavern brawl between Tavish and Rokara. While playing, you will be able to play as either Tavish or Rokara to represent your hero in battle. There will also be some unique dialogue between different character combinations. You’ll have to wait a little longer for these, however. The Tavish story will come out on February 1st. Last, but not least, there will be some stuff to celebrate that Lunar New Year. All players will get a new Dancing Lion Card back, a Lunar Blessing Tavern Brawl, and new quests.
