The Tone Free 2021 earbuds will come in three variants

LG has been selling earbuds under its Tone Free line for a while now. They’re priced and speced in the same vein as the likes of Samsung and Apple. They offer some of the features that audio lovers enjoy. This 2021 refresh will introduce three different variants.

The FP5 earbuds are the lowest tier earbuds

At the bottom of the pecking order are the FP5 earbuds. While they are the bottom tier, they still come with active noise cancellation achieved with three onboard microphones. The microphones also come in handy with the ambient and chat mode. This means that you will be able to funnel in audio from your surroundings to hear what’s going on around you. Other specs include the 3D sound stage, IPX4 water resistance, swift pair, multi-pair, and up to 22 hours of battery life (8 hours from the earbuds and 12 hours from the case). That’s still an impressive list of features for the least premium earbuds. Regardless, there are still some features that had to be cut out. There’s, unfortunately, no wireless charging for the FP5 earbuds. They also lack the UVnano technology. This technology uses ultraviolet radiation to clear bacteria from the speaker mesh.

The FP8 and FP9 are at the top end of the brand

The FP8 earbuds will pick up where the FP5 earbuds left off. You will have all of the features that the FP5 earbuds have but with a few additions. You will have the wireless charging and the UVnano technology. Along with that, you will get a little bit more battery power. You will have a total of 24 hours of battery (10 hours from the earbuds and 14 hours from the case). While the FP9 earbuds sit at the top of the list, they’re only a minor step above the FP8 (and they actually drop a feature). The FP9 earbuds drop the wireless charging, which is really unfortunate. What the FP9 earbuds have over the FP8 earbuds is the Plug & Wireless capability. This feature will have the charging case act as a dongle. You plug the case into a computer, phone, or gaming console and it will transmit the audio straight to the earbuds. This will eliminate the need to pair the actual devices. This feature is great for listening to audio with little to no latency. There’s no telling how much LG will charge for these when they launch. If you’re in the market for new earbuds, it might be worth it to wait for these new Tone Free 2021 earbuds to launch.
