For starters, the Galaxy A24 is said to be powered by Samsung’s in-house Exynos 7904 chipset. It is an outdated 14nm processor and is much older than the 6nm Snapdragon 680G found inside the Galaxy A23. Such a massive downgrade doesn’t make any sense. The rumored 6GB RAM and 64GB storage may still be fathomable, but a 4,000mAh battery with 15W fast charging in a 2023 Galaxy mid-ranger doesn’t fit correctly. More so when you realize that the Galaxy A23 has a 5,000 mAh battery and supports 25W fast charging. That’s a bare minimum these days. This leak, which is the first about the Galaxy A24, also mentions another downgrade, though not as massive as those mentioned above. The device will reportedly feature a 48MP primary camera at the back. The Galaxy A23 has a 50MP main camera. Thankfully, the upcoming handset does get OIS (Optical Image Stabilization). It is also said to feature an 8MP ultra-wide lens and a third 5MP depth or macro camera. This year’s model has three more cameras at the back, but we have been long hearing that Samsung will remove one camera from the back of its 2023 Galaxy A lineup. So the latest rumor is in line with that.
The Galaxy A24 may upgrade to an AMOLED display
The Galaxy A24 is not downgraded everywhere, though. While we are highly suspicious about the authenticity of this leak, the claim is that Samsung will upgrade to an AMOLED screen on the new phone. The current model features an LCD panel. Screen size and resolution are not known yet but we will reportedly still get a 90Hz refresh rate. The Galaxy A24 may also upgrade to a 16MP selfie camera from an 8MP one. While the claims about the display and cameras aren’t wayward, those about the processor and battery are too off the track. Hopefully, they aren’t accurate. Maybe the source of this information had some mix-up. Samsung launched the Galaxy A23 in March of this year, and we expect its successor to arrive around the same time next year. We will keep you posted with all the latest information about the Galaxy A24.
