SamMobile reports that the update introduces firmware version A515FXXU5EUL3. However, Samsung hasn’t offered a detailed changelog for this patch. Expectedly, the update also brings stability improvements and standard bug fixes. Customers of the Galaxy A51 are recommended to be on the lookout for the update notification. If it hasn’t arrived yet, try heading over to Settings – Software update and hit Download (if an update is available).
Samsung will roll out the Android 12 + One UI 4 update to the Galaxy A51 in the coming months
The Galaxy A51 is not a new smartphone by any means. The device made its debut in late 2019 carrying Android 10. It is on course to receive the Android 12 update with One UI 4 on top sometime next year. The January 2022 security update for the Galaxy A51 is significant as Samsung is now among the first manufacturers to send the patch to its devices. The company did something similar last month by releasing the December 2021 security patch for a few devices even before the month began. Customers in the U.S. would remember that the Galaxy A51 received the Android 11 update with One UI 3.1 only in June this year. This tells us that the rollout of the One UI 4.1 update could take until mid-2022. But until then, device owners can expect to receive monthly security updates to fix existing vulnerabilities. Most Samsung devices are currently receiving the One UI 4 update. Meanwhile, the company is also prepping the launch of One UI 4.1. This iteration of One UI will likely debut with the Galaxy S22 in February 2022. It’s still early days, but the new software could bring some additional features to complement the new hardware on the flagship. The last week of December has been fairly eventful for Samsung. After rolling out the One UI update to multiple devices, the manufacturer also pushed the update for the Galaxy Tab S7 and the Tab S7+. Although the update was focused mainly on Europe, other markets are likely to follow in a week or two.
