Bally Sports Plus is going to cost $189.99 annually or $19.99 per month. So it’s the usual streaming savings of about 25% if you do annual versus monthly. That’s pretty pricey. Even Netflix is cheaper, or the same price depending on the plan you choose. But here’s the kicker. For $19.99/month you are only getting access to your local teams. Basically $19.99 to watch a single channel – your local Bally Sports RSN. That, is terrible.
Sinclair’s biggest issue, lack of teams
Commissioners for the NBA and MLB have said in the past that they don’t think there’s enough content for Sinclair to have a sustainable streaming service, and that’s quite obvious now. Sinclair has broadcast rights to 38 MLB, NBA and NHL franchises already on the Bally Sports stations. Which sounds like a large number, but it’s really not. There’s 94 teams combined across those three sports. So that’s only a third of the possible number of franchises they could have. But that’s for broadcasting, for streaming, they have all NBA and NHL teams as well as five MLB teams. Not to mention the fact that Sinclair is also missing out on the NFL. Due to the NFL’s contracts with FOX, NBC, CBS and ESPN for their games. They aren’t broadcast on RSNs like the other sports. So how does this compare to the other streaming sports networks like MLB.TV, NBA League Pass and NFL Sunday Ticket? Well, MLB.TV is about $25 per month and lets you watch all the games. The same goes for NBA League Pass Premium which is $29.99 per month. And NFL Sunday Ticket is $74 per month, but you get every single game there. Bally Sports+ is cheaper, but the issue is, you are limited to what’s available in your area. Not all markets have an MLB, NHL and NBA team, however.
