Such as game trials, a catalog of downloadable games, and the ability to stream PS3 titles and access PlayStation Classics. If you’re already a PlayStation Plus member, we’ve got a full guide on how to upgrade your plan that you can check out, but if you need to sign up, that’s what we’ll be covering in this guide. PlayStation Plus is a monthly service that is associated with a monthly fee based on the plan tier you choose. You can also optionally pay for the service on an annual basis. Annual subscriptions usually save you money in the long run.

How to sign up for PlayStation Plus

Signing up for PlayStation Plus is an easy process and can be done either from your browser or directly on your PlayStation console. We’ll walk you through both options, starting with your browser. Which you can also do from your PC at home or on your smartphone or other mobile device.

Signing up through your browser

Go to the PlayStation website

Start by heading to the PlayStation website. Launch your browser and go to www.playstation.com/en-us/ps-plus/

Click on the “Join PlayStation Plus” button

As soon as the site loads, you’ll see a big orange button in the top right corner of the page that says Join PlayStation Plus. Click this button to get started with joining the service.

Choose your plan

After clicking the join button, you’ll be taken to a page that asks you to pick the plan you want to sign up for. Your options are Premium for 1 month, 3 months, or 12 months. As well as Extra or Essential for the same lengths of time. Prices for those increments of time will vary based on the plan you pick. If you want to learn more about PlayStation Plus and the costs of each plan, you can do so here.

Click “Add To Cart”

Once you’ve settled on a plan, click on the add to cart button. This will add your recurring subscription cost to your cart for you to check out at the associated price.

Click “Accept”

Click the accept button to accept the terms and agree to the cost

Select your payment method and finalize your purchase

After you accept the cost of the subscription, you’ll need to select a payment method and confirm the purchase. If you already have a PlayStation account but not a PlayStation Plus subscription, you should automatically be logged in at this stage. Alternatively, you can log in to your PlayStation account before the step where you click the Join PlayStation Plus button. Provided you have paid for a game through the PlayStation Store before, your payment method (s) should be saved. After you confirm the purchase, the payment should go through and your PlayStation Plus subscription will activate. And that’s it. Now you can enjoy the service.

Signing up through your PlayStation console

Power on your console

To sign up for PlayStation Plus on your PS5 or PS4 console, start by powering on your console if it isn’t already on.

Scroll to the PlayStation Plus panel

Once you’re on the home screen of the console (in our case the PS5), scroll to the PlayStation Plus panel. If you’re on PS5 this should be the first panel in the list ahead of the PlayStation Store and your most recently played game.

Click on yellow Subscribe panel

On this page, you’ll see a message that says “Welcome to PlayStation Plus.” Below this under the Explore label, the very first panel should be a yellow panel that says Subscribe on it. Click that panel to start signing up.

Select your plan and payment option

Next, select your plan option (it should be default to PlayStation Plus Essential) and then select the payment option – 1 month, 3 months, or 12 months.

Click Accept

Next, click the accept button to agree to the terms and the amount of payment.

Check the required box acknowledging payment and click the Order and Pay button

After clicking accept, you should see a dialogue box that you will need to check to acknowledge that you’re agreeing to pay for the monthly subscription you selected. Check that box and then click on the Order and Pay button.

Enter your payment information

Finally, enter your payment credentials and finalize the order. If you haven’t purchased anything on your console before, then you’ll have to enter that information at this step. PlayStation supports credit and debit cards from Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover, as well as PayPal. If you have purchased something before, then you’ll simply be prompted to confirm the payment method. And that’s it. After the payment processes, which should only take a few seconds, your PlayStation Plus subscription will be active. You can then use the perks of the service associated with the plan tier that you chose. Including but not limited to online multiplayer, access to free monthly games, discounts on select game purchases, and access to the game catalog and more if you went with the Extra or Premium plans.
