End of update –
Cyberpunk 2077 is a massive game that has a lot to offer the aspiring Nomad, Street Kid, or Copo, but you’ll need plenty of money to indulge in a lot of it so we put together this guide on how to get filthy rich and do it quickly. To get rich in Cyberpunk 2077 there are more than a few things you can do. If you’re the type that wants to allow things to progress at a normal pace, simply play the game and take on missions and complete them. Over time you’ll start to rack up some serious eurodollars. But that doesn’t really help you get filthy rich very quickly. If you want to make a TON of money fast, there’s an easy method that doesn’t require much effort. And the best part is you can do this method pretty early on as long as you do one thing first to make this more efficient. In this handy little guide we’ll walk you through the steps on how to make some fast money early on. You can then use the method as much or as little as you like depending on how much money you want to have as you play. We’ll also go over a few tips on how to make money while playing normally if you don’t want to use the easy method. I used this method while playing the game on the PS5, but it should work regardless of the platform. As I heard about it from a friend that plays on PC. Also worth noting is that this isn’t really a glitch or an exploit. No funny business here.
Get rich in Cyberpunk 2077 early and quickly
It’s actually pretty easy to get lots of money in Cyberpunk 2077 really early on. Even before you finish the game’s prologue. There is however one thing you’ll want to do before you use this method.
Unlock the Mechanic perk
The first thing you’re going to want to do is unlock the Mechanic perk, which is located under the Crafting tab of the Technical Ability skill tree. Which means you’ll have to play a little bit of the game to the point where you can unlock this. This should happen relatively quickly though. The reason this is important is because it allows you to get more materials from items that you disassemble. As long as the items you’re disassembling actually give you materials. And the ones that are used in the method certainly do. This perk plays into how this method is so successful and you want to be as efficient as you can. That’s the key word to really making this work for you as fast as possible – efficiency.
Head to a ripperdoc named Cassius Ryder
Next, you’re going to want to head to a ripperdoc named Cassius Ryder. You won’t be visiting him, but the area you need is right next to where he’s located. So get to his location on the map shown in the image above. Cassius Ryder is located in the Northside part of the city. There is also a nearby fast travel point if you’re far away and don’t feel like driving all the way there. Once you get to Cassius Ryder, don’t go in his office. Instead, turn around and familiarize yourself with all of the drink and food machines that face his front door. These are your ticket to quick cash.
Buy drinks until each machine is sold out
The deal here is that you’re going to buy drinks and disassemble them to get the materials that are rewarded when you break down those items. Which is why you want the Mechanic perk unlocked. Because you will get more materials from breaking down these cans. Technically, you should be able to break down any can from the drinks you buy out of these machines. But I have only been able to properly disassemble the cans from a few specific drinks. Whenever I tried the others, the game either doesn’t give me a disassemble option when I hover over it or, I get nothing from the disassembly. The few that I have managed to try that work every time for me are Nicola Blue, Tiancha Kumquat, and the Chromanticore Lime. There may be other cans that work for this method but I have not tried them all. This particular spot is also the largest collection of machines I have personally seen in one place in such a small area. Which makes them easy to round up all the cans from. That doesn’t mean there isn’t another area somewhere in the city where there are even more of them grouped together. If you know of one that has more machines than all the ones here, utilize that instead as again, it’s all about efficiency here.
Save the game and then load the game from that save
After you’ve emptied out every machine, save the game and then load the game from that save. This will refresh all of the inventory in each machine where the drinks were previously sold out. Then, rinse and repeat this process of buying out all the cans from each machine, then saving and loading. There will be some food machines lumped in with all of these. You can ignore them. Focus on the Nicola Blue, Tiancha Kumquat, and Chromanticore Lime. Each time you save and load into the game again, the amount you get from each machine will also be different. Sometimes you can get away with buying 100+ cans from a single machine. Other times you’ll get 1 or 2. Don’t let this deter you. Just buy out all the cans that you have the money for and then continue this process. Try to aim for about 500 cans of each one or 500 cans in general. As this will break down to a ton of materials and that’s what you want. The reason for getting so many cans at once is because you don’t want to have to come back to this area until you run out of materials to sell. So again, efficiency.
Break down the cans and then sell the materials
Next you’re going to want to break down all of the cans you have to get common and uncommon materials. If you have Mechanic unlocked under the Technical Ability skill tree, you should get 6 common and 3 uncommon from each can. Or around that. Each can when you buy it costs $10 eurodollars. But each single material sells for around $8 eurodollars. And since you get 6 and 3 from each single can disassembly, you make a lot more from selling the materials than you spent on the can. See where this is going? Buy cans at $10 eurodollars a pop, get 6 common and 3 uncommon materials from each can, which is 9 materials, which each sell for around $8 eurodollars. If you’re shooting for 500 of each of those three drink types listed above, you’ll end up with thousands upon thousands of materials to sell in one go. Then if you want you can go back and get more cans. Once you have the amount of cans you want (or once you’ve hit your limit and can’t spend any more), go to a vendor drop box and sell all of the materials. Don’t worry about getting rid of them all because you can just buy more cans and break them down to replenish the materials you sold.
Head to the vendor drop box just outside your apartment door
There are vendor dropboxes all over Night City, but I like to use the one right outside the apartment door because it’s close to two other can machines that sell Nicola Blue. Alternatively you can also use these two machines to get the cans. But you’ll have to save and load the game more often and that is likely to make this process longer overall. it does however minimize the travel time between buying cans and selling the materials you get from disassembling them. So that’s something to consider. Each vendor drop box also only carries a total of $20,000 eurodollars. But fear not. you can easily refresh this too. Once the vendor drop box is all out of money, simply skip time by 24 hours. This will refresh the vendor back to $20,000 and then you can sell any remaining materials. Rinse and repeat this until you have no more left to sell. When doing this on launch night of the game, I was able to rack up about $100,000 eurodollars in the span of an hour and half. And I only started with around $1,200 before trying this method out. Which let me easily pay back Viktor after he hooks you up with some free cyberware upgrades. It also help me acquire a few vehicles, though you’ll need to start getting the quests where people have vehicles to sell you. Which doesn’t happen till after the prologue is over.
Other tips to help you get rich in Cyberpunk 2077
Some may feel that the process of simply breaking down cans and then selling the materials you get from them over and over breaks the natural progression of the game. With that said, you don’t have to use this method for making a lot of money. I have just personally found this to be the quickest way to get rich in Cyberpunk 2077. It’s also a method you can use over and over and over. So there’s no shortage of how much you can earn. It is a tedious and grindy method. Sure. But if you’re not opposed to a few hours of grinding early on, then you’ll be set on money for the rest of the game. Because you’ll continue to earn as you complete more jobs and eventually they’ll start paying a lot more. If you don’t want to go through this grind, there are some things you can do to help earn as much money as possible as you play.
Don’t acquire the perk that automatically disassembles junk
Under the same skill tree where you unlock Mechanic, you can unlock another perk which automatically disassembles any junk items you pick up. Do not buy this perk. At least not for a while. The reason being is because some junk items will sell for around $750 eurodollars. As well as other various high amounts. But if they’re automatically disassembled all you will get is a few materials which will obviously net you way less money. So leave this perk alone and sell all the junk you get instead. Which leads us to the next tip.
Pick up EVERYTHING early on
As you begin playing, make sure to pick up everything you see. Literally everything. No matter what it is, you’ll usually be able to sell it. Even for small amounts. So it’s imperative that you don’t miss out on any items you come across during your jaunts across the city. Don’t worry about going over your carry limit because most of the small items won’t take up a lot of space. There’s also a perk you can unlock under the Body skill tree that will raise your carry limit by 60. Just be wary of picking up too many weapons as these will really start to weigh you down. At which point you’ll need to unload everything at a vendor.
Do all the side quests, gigs, and anything else that pays
Don’t just stick to the main storyline jobs. If you have side quests or gigs, do those too. As the pay from these can really add up. There are also all sorts of little things you can do around the city to make a buck. Like taking out violent criminals for the NCPD. Or stopping a violent crime or mugging currently in the process. Pay attention to these happenings on the screen as they’ll pop up from time to time to alert you. That’s basically it. You can use the fairly quick method that’s been laid out here if you like, but it isn’t necessary. It is however likely the quickest way to get a lot of money very fast and very early on. So if that doesn’t bother you, proceed with it. There are a lot of ways to get rich in Cyberpunk 2077 but this is probably one of the fastest ways. If you’d rather experience things normally, just remember the few tips listed here to help you get the most out of things without breaking down cans and selling materials. There are also countless other ways to get rich in Cyberpunk 2077.
