Having said that, the global model will be the same as this one, in terms of design and specs. It remains to be seen if all color variants will be on offer, and whatnot, but this is essentially what we’ll get globally.
The HONOR Magic V offers premium design & specs
The HONOR Magic V is quite a compelling smartphone, that’s for sure. This is a high-end device that offers a rather refined design, especially considering this is HONOR’s very first foldable. Many would say it looks more refined than the Galaxy Z Fold 3 due to bezels and whatnot.
The HONOR Magic V is made out of metal and glass, and it folds like a book. It is a direct competitor to the Galaxy Z Fold 3, and its global model will come with Google services out of the box, of course. This handset is fueled by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC, which gives you an idea of what you can expect in regards to specs. This is Qualcomm’s most powerful processor to date, and this is the first foldable to come with it.
It comes with 12GB of RAM, and both of its displays offer a high refresh rate
In addition to that, HONOR included 12GB of RAM on the inside, along with 256GB/512GB of storage. Do note that we’re looking at LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 flash storage here. This foldable comes with two displays. Its main display measures 7.9 inches, and we’re looking at a 2272 x 1984 resolution here. The secondary display measures 6.45 inches, and its resolution is 2560 x 1080. Both of those are OLED panels. The outer display offers a 120Hz refresh rate, while the foldable inner display has a 90Hz refresh rate.
There are three 50-megapixel cameras included on the back
The HONOR Magic V includes three 50-megapixel cameras on the back. Those are wide, ultrawide, and the last is the so-called ‘Spectrum Enhanced Camera’. You can get more information about them in our specifications post. A 42-megapixel camera sits on the front side of the phone, while the device comes with Android 12 out of the box. HONOR’s Magic UI 6.0 sits on top of Google’s OS, while the phone does have stereo speakers. It also offers two SIM card slots.
A 4,750mAh battery is thrown into the mix, and it supports 66W HONOR SuperCharge charging. This is wired charging, and it can get the phone from 0 to 100-percent in 40 minutes. Wireless charging is not supported. It comes in Black, Titanium Silver, and Burnt Orange variants. The first two combine metal and glass, while the latter includes a metal + vegan leather combo.
The HONOR Magic V is quite pricey, as expected
The HONOR Magic V with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage costs CNY9,999 ($1,569), while the 12GB RAM model with 512GB of storage will set you back CNY10,999 ($1,726). The global models will likely be a bit more expensive.
