There’s another build of Android 12L coming to the Pixel 6 phones
We all pretty much know all there is to know about Android 12L at this point. It’s the version of Android that’s optimized for large-screen devices. This makes it ideal for phones and tablets. Over the years, Android has never been a good platform for larger devices. Devices would just take Android and stretch it to fit a 10-inch tablet or 8-inch folding phone. This always led to an inferior experience compared to iPads. However, Android 12L is going to be launching sometime next month. However, Google has thrown us a bit of a curveball. A few days ago, there was this weird and random update that the company released. It didn’t seem to really change anything, but something happened. If you have the latest version installed, you won’t be able to download the final version of Android 12L. This may sound like more Pixel 6 weirdness, but this was meant to happen. Instead of installing the final version, fully updated Pixel 6 phones will be getting another build of the beta software before getting the final release. This wouldn’t really be like a 4th beta version; rather, it’s a release candidate (RC). We’re not sure what will be different in this build, but we think that it could be some bug fixes and tweaks. This might just be an extension of the beta testing period before sending out the final update.
How to check if you’re on the latest version of Android 12
Google didn’t exactly announce this random update; it just came out of the blue. The update dropped for the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro, and it didn’t seem to change anything. The only difference we could see was in the build number. It changed from SQ1D.220205.003 to SQ1D.220205.004. The last digit just went up by one number. Now, we know that the update made updating to the final build of Android 12L impossible. If you want to check to see if your phone has the update, go to your settings. Scroll down to the About Phone section and scroll all the way to the bottom. Your build number should be displayed right there. If it’s not SQ1D.220205.004, then you will be able to get the final release when it comes out.
