Google removed the Last Updated On information from the Play Store
Some people really want to know the ins and outs of the apps they’re downloading. This is why the Play Store has the “About this app” section for each app. You get information like how big an app is, how much you can pay on in-app purchases, the oldest version of Android it will install on, etc. Before, it’d show you the date that the app was last updated. This is important because, if you’re going to use an app for something substantial, you’d want to know if that app’s still being supported. Unfortunately, Google removed the “Last updated on” information again. The company didn’t really tell why it did this. It didn’t seem to be cluttering the interface or anything like that. It’s just hard to tell if this is some sort of bug or a conscious decision by Google.
This is information is gone for some apps, but on others
As reported by the source, the “Last updated on” information was removed for a pretty random set of apps. According to their testing, the information was on apps like the Gboard beta and Google Chat. However, it’s gone for apps like Google Photos and Shazam. Going through and checking out apps, you’ll see this information gone for an arbitrary selection of apps. That puzzles everyone because there seems to be no reason this is going on.
In Other Google News: GBoard will change your text into stickers
Gboard is good at adding predictions while you’re typing, but the predictions have been confined to emojis and words. Now, Google is testing out a new feature for Gboard that will predict stickers for you. When you type down a word or phrase, the keyboard will suggest the most relevant text-based stickers to add into your conversations. This feature is in beta testing at the moment, so it’s not live just yet. There’s no word on when it will launch, but you can join the beta if you want it early. Just go Gboard on the Play Store and join the beta program. You’ll get the update to the beta version where you can try the feature out.
