Google first announced a built-in equalizer for the Pixel Buds Pro in July this year. The company planned to release the feature before the end of 2022. It promised a five-band equalizer with a fall 2022 timeline. True to that promise, Google is almost here with the feature. According to the new report, the five-band equalizer would let you adjust the following sound bands on the Pixel Buds Pro: Low Bass, Bass, Mid, Treble, and Upper Treble. You can tune the sound to your personal preferences. For a change, Google is also replacing the traditional equalizer layout featuring vertical sliders with new horizontal sliders. And for those who don’t want to manually adjust the equalizer for some reason, the company will offer seven sound presets as well. You get to choose from the following options: Balanced, Clarity, Default, Heavy bass, Last saved, Light bass, and Vocal boost. These presets are pretty much self-explanatory, so it shouldn’t be a big deal for anyone new to equalizers.
Google is preparing more new features for the Pixel Buds Pro
The latest version of the Pixel Buds app also hinted at another new feature for the Pixel Buds Pro. Google is working on a volume-balance slider for the earbuds. This feature lets you manually adjust the volume level for each bud individually. You can play music at different volumes on each ear. This feature may be particularly useful for people with difficulty hearing in one ear. Google notes that the volume balance feature “may conflict with other volume balance settings set on other devices.” Along with an equalizer, Google also promised to add Spatial Audio support to the Pixel Buds Pro. This feature recently showed up within the Android 13 QPR1 Beta 1. It was non-functional too, but all the developments point toward a nearing public release. Perhaps Google will announce these new features for the Pixel Buds Pro during its fall hardware event on October 6, alongside the Pixel 7 series and the Pixel Watch. That also explains why the company has included the earbuds in its teaser for the upcoming event. Two more weeks to go before we get to see the latest Google products.
