The Google Pixel 6 series may launch before Apple’s new iPhones
As a reminder, the Pixel 5 got announced on September 30 last year. So, this would be a bit sooner than anticipated, around two weeks earlier. It’s possible, though take this rumor with a grain of salt, as Google still didn’t confirm anything. Google did, however, already kind of announced the Pixel 6 series. The company confirmed that the two devices are coming in the fall, while it also shared their renders. It also confirmed some of their specs, and a chip they’ll be fueled by, the Google Tensor. That announcement was kind of a teaser for the real deal. Both phones did leak out a number of times thus far, so we kind of have a good idea what to expect. Google is going with a brand new design this time around. The Pixel 6 and 6 Pro will look considerably different than anything else out in the market. They’ll be made out of metal and glass, but with a completely different design.
Google’s smartphones are coming back to the premium tier
The company is going back to the premium tier of phones, after releasing only mid-range devices last year. Both of these phones will be quite expensive as well, that’s something Google also confirmed. Both will also be quite large, so the company is moving away from compact smartphones. That is unfortunate, even though that’s what most smartphone OEMs are doing these days. The Google Pixel 6 and 6 Pro will have a lot in common, but there will be some differences, of course. The ‘Pro’ model will include a curved display, which will also offer a higher resolution. It will come with a more compelling camera setup, and so on. The main camera on both phones will be the same, allegedly, while both devices will include the same SoC.
