The Google Pixel 5a specs and launch date got tipped via new report
According to Jon Prosser’s FrontPageTech report, the Pixel 5a will launch on Thursday, August 26. Do note that this could be the sheer launch of the phone, and it could be announced sooner than that. The report specifically says it will launch on August 26, and be available for purchase online or physically available in Google Stores. Google tends to announce its devices a week or two earlier. So, we still don’t know the announcement date. Now, the phone is expected to launch in the US and Japan markets only. That information surfaced a while back, but Prosser didn’t reiterate it in his new report. Either way, neither Europe nor India are expected to get this phone. The chip shortage could be to blame.
The phone will launch in one color only
In regards to specs, the source did reveal some information. It says that the phone will arrive in one color only, Mostly Black. It will feature a 6.4-inch display, which will go up to 90Hz (forced 90Hz, it says). The report did not say what resolution we can expect, but it will almost certainly be a fullHD+ one. The Snapdragon 765G is tipped to fuel the phone, while the device is set to offer 6GB of RAM. A 4,650mAh battery will be included in the package, but the device won’t support wireless charging. It is said that the phone will utilize the same camera setup as the Pixel 5. That means we can expect a 12.2-megapixel main camera, and a 16-megapixel ultrawide one. An 8-megapixel unit will likely sit on the front. A headphone jack will be included, while the phone will offer an IP67 rating for water and dust resistance. The report also says that the phone will be priced at $450. So, it will be more affordable than the Pixel 4a 5G was at launch.
