This is quite surprising considering that pretty much everything pointed to the Galaxy Z Fold 4 having an S Pen slot, there were quite a few rumors regarding this. It seems like Samsung may ditch the idea, though.
The Galaxy Z Fold 4 may not offer an S Pen slot, but there’s still hope
There is some hope, though. The source claims that the Galaxy Z Fold 4 design is still subject to change. It is said that the design will be finalized in early March 2022, so there’s still time for things to change. So, why would Samsung not include an S Pen slot inside the Galaxy Z Fold 4? Well, there could be a couple of reasons. First, there’s not much space for Samsung to play with, because it has to keep the phone as light as possible, and as compact as possible. The Galaxy Z Fold 4 will be a foldable smartphone, and it will be large and heavy no matter how you slice it. Adding an S Pen dock and an S Pen inside the phone would affect that weight and size for sure. Another reason could be the price tag. Both of those would affect the phone’s price, and the company is trying to lower the price of its foldables as much as possible, to make them more feasible to consumers.

We are only guessing here, though, of course. The Galaxy Z Fold 4 is not expected to arrive until August 2022, so there’s still time for things to change. Rumors and leaks coming after March 2022 will likely be more accurate. The Galaxy Z Fold 4 is expected to resemble its predecessor. Samsung likely won’t change much from the design perspective. We are expecting a number of improvements though, ranging from the hinge, to the under-display camera, which is not exactly great on the Z Fold 3.
