Meanwhile, the first update is already available pretty widely. According to SamMobile, the Galaxy Z Fold 4 users in the US are receiving the new OTA (over the air) package with firmware version F936USQU1AVHH. The same update for international versions of the phone bears the build number F936BXXU1AVHH, while that in South Korea is F936NKSU1AVHI. The new firmware version for the Galaxy Z Flip 4 in the three regions is F721USQU1AVHH, F721BXXU1AVHH, and F721NKSU1AVHI, respectively. Samsung has been taking pre-orders for the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 since their unveiling on August 10. The devices went on public sale in over 40 countries last week. So many buyers would be just receiving their shiny new foldables. And they will have an OTA update waiting for them out of the box. Those buying the phones in the coming days may even receive them with this software patch pre-installed.

Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Flip 4 should soon receive the September security update

As said earlier, Samsung is expected to soon begin the rollout of the September SMR. The Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 should be one of the first to get the new security update. So there’s a possibility that you’ll directly pick up that update, skipping the first release. Watch out for a notification in the coming days. You can also navigate to the Software update menu in the Settings app and tap on Download and install to check for updates manually. This OTA package weighs about 370MB, though the download size may vary according to the device model and market. Nonetheless, this is just the first of many software updates for the new Samsung foldables. The Korean company promises to provide four major Android OS updates and five years of security updates to the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4. So you’ll get feature updates through at least September 2027. Debuted with Android 12, the foldables will get updated until Android 16. The first major update, i. e. Android 13, should roll out later this year.
