The Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Fold 4 impress in a battery life test
YouTuber TechDroider recently put up the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 against Samsung’s Galaxy S22 Ultra (5,000mAh), the OnePlus 10 Pro (5,000mAh), the Xiaomi 12S Ultra (4,860mAh), and the Apple iPhone 13 Pro Max (4,352mAh) in an extensive battery life test. Surprisingly, both foldables lasted longer than the Galaxy S22 Ultra despite packing significantly smaller batteries. The test began with a lengthy gaming session of over two hours. It was followed by three hours of continuous YouTube streaming at 1080p resolution. Next up, TechDroider browsed the internet for about an hour. A one-hour Instagram session followed next. Finally, camera usage until the Galaxy S22 Ultra died. It lasted for eight hours and 56 minutes and reached a temperature of 50.4°C. (122.72°F) The Galaxy Z Flip 4 was the next to go down with a runtime of nine hours and four minutes. It beating the Galaxy S22 Ultra by almost ten minutes is shocking. The clamshell foldable also handled thermals better, with a maximum temperature of 42.1°C (107.78°F). The Galaxy Z Fold 4 lasted marginally longer, for nine hours and 18 minutes. It was even better in terms of thermals at 39.7°C (103.46°F). This is a testament to power efficiency and thermal improvements that the TSMC-made Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor brings over the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 powering the Galaxy S22 Ultra. The latter chipset was made by Samsung, and we all know the Korean firm’s struggles in this area in recent years. As for the rest of the devices, the OnePlus 10 Pro gave in a minute after the Galaxy Z Fold 4 but it got quite hot with a peak temperature of 45.1°C (113.18°F). The Xiaomi 12S Ultra went down at nine hours and 38 minutes with a temperature of 44.1°C (111.38°F). The Apple iPhone 13 Pro Max expectedly lasted the longest, running for ten hours and 35 minutes. It reached a temperature of 40.5°C (104.9). You can watch the full video below.
