The company was recently awarded a patent for a dual-sided under-display fingerprint scanner designed for foldables. Samsung could be keen to include this new technology with the Galaxy Z Fold 4. Taking these reports into account, there’s plenty to look forward to from the 2022 Samsung foldables. Early iterations of Samsung foldables failed to leave a big imprint on the mobile industry. But things have changed significantly since then. In fact, the company is looking to produce and ship more units of the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4 than their predecessors. Samsung could be looking to produce at least 10 million units of the foldables in Q3 and Q4 of 2022. It’s worth noting that devices like the Microsoft Surface Duo and the Mi MIX Fold also offer foldable screens. However, these devices aren’t widely available, making Samsung the undisputed leader in the segment (for now).
