A massive leak shows the Galaxy Watch 5 series in great detail

There are numerous takeaways from this leak. But first and foremost, it confirms that Samsung’s iconic rotating bezel is gone, unfortunately. The company has offered the much-loved physical bezel ring on at least one model in the past. But neither Galaxy Watch 5 model will have it. This is disappointing but Samsung is reportedly doing this to make room for bigger batteries. Speaking of big batteries, the Galaxy Watch 5 devices look quite bulky, particularly the Pro. Codenamed Project X, this model is said to pack a massive 572mAh battery with a dial size of 46mm. It has raised bezels with the screen recessed a little. The wearable comes in black and gray titanium color options. The straps follow the design language of the traditional watches but with a modern touch. The vanilla Galaxy Watch 5, meanwhile, is a little less bulky and doesn’t have a recessed screen. The display sits flat with the bezel, reminiscent of Samsung’s “Active” watch lineup from the past. Samsung plans to offer this model in multiple color options, including black, silver, pink gold, and blue. Its watch strap looks less premium, though. Codenamed Heart, this model will come in two size variants — 40mm and 44mm (these renders show the latter). The two variants will reportedly pack batteries of 276mAh and 397mAh rated capacity, respectively. The rest of the design language is pretty much the same as the Pro model. There are two physical buttons on the right side, with the upper one getting a red highlight. On the back, we have the usual sensors and coils for heart rate monitoring, wireless charging, and all other stuff. All Galaxy Watch 5 models will feature circular OLED screens with Gorilla Glass protection. We are also hearing about a Sapphire glass variant of the Pro model. They will all feature an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance and will run Wear OS 3.5 with Samsung’s One UI Watch 4.5 on top. The company will offer the watches in LTE cellular connectivity options as well.

The new Samsung smartwatches will go official in about a month

Samsung has yet to announce when it plans to unveil the Galaxy Watch 5 series. But rumors are that the big launch event, which will also see the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 foldables break cover, will take place on August 10. It may be an offline event, the first offline Galaxy Unpacked in two years. If true, the Korean firm may start sending media invitations soon. We will tell you when we have more information.
