The Galaxy S23 Ultra still has a thick chin
The Galaxy S23 Ultra first leaked in renders on September 28 courtesy of noted leaker OnLeaks. The renders showed the phone with even bezels on all four sides of the display. This uniform display design gives the device a sleeker look. Samsung did offer uniform bezels on the Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22+ this year, but not on the Galaxy S22 Ultra. The chin on the latter is thicker than the bezels on the other three sides. Unsurprisingly, the change on the Galaxy S23 Ultra was welcomed by everyone. But it turns out we were given false hope. Well, another noted tipster Ice Universe begged to differ shortly after the first set of renders emerged. He claimed that the bezels on the Galaxy S23 Ultra aren’t symmetrical. The chin is still larger than the rest. And he was right, it seems. The source of those renders, i. e. OnLeaks, today (October 20) shared updated renders and it validates Ice Universe’s claims. The chin isn’t as slim as the side and top bezels. It appears to be marginally thinner than that on the Galaxy S22 Ultra, but we are talking fractions of a millimeter here.
Samsung has seemingly made the frame thinner
The bezels may not be uniform, but the Galaxy S23 Ultra is seemingly getting a thinner frame. The updated renders reveal a thinner metallic frame on all four sides. This change makes the bezels look thicker, even though they are of the same size as before. Moreover, the edges and corners paper to be more rounded. This should make it more comfortable to hold the device in hand for a long time. Sharper edges may quickly get uncomfortable in the hand. That said, these changes aren’t too big and may go unnoticed by many. Perhaps most Galaxy S23 Ultra buyers will put on a case, so the edges don’t matter.
