The Galaxy S23 series will not have many upgrades

The most notable change or upgrade will be the processor. The Galaxy S23 series will feature Qualcomm’s next-gen Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset. While rumors suggest the same silicon may power the upcoming Samsung flagships globally next year, the company doesn’t seem to have ruled out the use of its in-house Exynos processors. It is undecided on the matter. But we hope it goes all-in with the Snapdragon solution, at least for a year. Exynos chipsets have been given enough chances in the past and they never impressed. Additionally, the Galaxy S23 Ultra will have a newer main camera at the back. We are expecting a 200MP shooter on the phone. It will reportedly be an unannounced ISOCELL HP2 sensor featuring 0.6μm pixels and an F/1.7 aperture. The sensor’s size is largely unchanged from the 1/1.3 inches 108MP unit on the Galaxy S22 Ultra. However, the new solution has smaller pixels, so Samsung is offering a wider aperture (Galaxy S22 Ultra has 0.8µm pixels and an F1.8 aperture). The new leak also mentions an upgraded display on the Galaxy S23 Ultra. We are not expecting any changes to the screen size. But the display tech may see some improvements for reduced S Pen latency and higher battery efficiency. A recent report claimed Samsung may offer five percent bigger batteries on its next-gen flagships despite keeping the same shape and size. The company is using stacked-type batteries for that. Other rumored upgrades on the Galaxy S23 series include a bigger and faster fingerprint scanner and the newer UFS 4.0 storage solution. But the devices would look more or less the same from the outside. However, as long as Samsung has improved the software experience, we wouldn’t complain. Apple has been doing this for years, often with fewer internal upgrades (looking at you, iPhone 14), and the world is perfectly fine with it.

Samsung launches its next-gen flagships in early 2023

Samsung is still months away from officially unveiling the Galaxy S23 series. While we won’t have a precise launch date anytime soon, rumors are that the company may take wraps off its next-gen flagships in early February 2023. We will keep you posted on it.
