Starting with the Geekbench entry, the global version of the Galaxy S23 Ultra (model number SM-S918B) recently popped up on the benchmarking platform with a multi-core score of 5179. It’s the highest score yet for any Galaxy S23 model. This result addresses the concerns that Samsung may be throttling the performance of the new flagships due to heating issues. The concerns stemmed from the fact that the phones scored lesser than rivals despite getting an overclocked Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor. The Qualcomm chipset that will power the Galaxy S23 trio has its prime CPU core clocked at a higher frequency. If you have doubts over benchmark scores, tipster Ahmed Qwaider claims that the Galaxy S23 lineup will feature improved cooling systems. They have even provided numerical measures for thermal improvements. The base Galaxy S23 model will reportedly bring 1.6 times better cooling system than the Galaxy S22. The numbers for the Galaxy S23+ and Galaxy S23 Ultra are 2.8X and 2.3X, respectively. The source states that these improvements will keep the system temperature in check during heavy use. Of course, without throttling the performance. It will otherwise beat the whole purpose of having improved cooling systems.
The Galaxy S23 series will also bring a notable performance boost
The same source has provided numerical measures for the performance boost that the overclocked Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 will bring to the Galaxy S23 series as compared to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1-powered Galaxy S22. They claim a 36 percent improvement in CPU performance, 48 percent in GPU performance, and 60 percent in NPU performance. Coupled with improved cooling systems, this will ensure lower battery consumption during prolonged use. Based on leaks so far, the Galaxy S23 will be a substantial upgrade over the Galaxy S22, though Samsung is keeping the design largely unchanged. We are getting improved cameras, brighter and more efficient displays, bigger batteries, improved cooling systems, a more powerful processor, and a host of other small but meaningful upgrades. Hopefully, the phones will live up to the expectations when they reach consumers’ hands. Just a few more weeks before we find out.
