The Galaxy Note 10 series was one of the early recipients of the February SMR (security maintenance release) from Samsung. The rollout began for the US-bound units in the first week of this month. International versions of the phones also picked up the new security update earlier this week. But all this while, the update was only available to the 4G variants of the Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy Note 10+. Today, we have their 5G counterparts jumping the bandwagon as well. As of this writing, the Galaxy Note 10+ 5G is receiving the latest SMR in Switzerland. The new firmware version for the phone is N976BXXS7GVB1. The update should soon reach the phone in other regions as well, bearing an identical build number. The new security update for the Galaxy S10 series is also currently rolling out in Europe, though it’s now only a matter of time before it reaches more territories. All four models — Galaxy S10e, Galaxy S10, Galaxy S10+, and Galaxy S10 5G — are receiving it. The update comes with firmware version G97xxXXSEGVA9. The Galaxy S10 Lite has already received the February SMR. Lastly, we have the Galaxy A52 mid-ranger joining the February update party as well. For this phone, the rollout has begun in some Asian countries with firmware version A525FXXU4BVB3. The popular 2021 midrange offering from Samsung joins its two predecessors — Galaxy A50s from 2019 and Galaxy A51 from 2020 — in the party.
February security update reaches more Samsung Galaxy smartphones
As has been the trend for more than a year now, Samsung was the first Android OEM to release the latest security patch to its devices. It began the rollout with the Galaxy Note 20 series in late January. Dozens of other models have since picked up the new SMR. And more keep joining the party each passing day. Samsung has already confirmed that the February 2022 SMR contains fixes for more than 60 vulnerabilities. A handful of those is said to be of “critical” severity, potentially causing significant damages if exploited in the wild. If you’re using the Galaxy Note 10+ 5G, Galaxy A52, or any of the Galaxy S10 phones, you should receive the new security update in the coming days if you haven’t already. You can manually check for the OTA (over the air) update by navigating to the Software update menu in the Settings app and tapping on Download and install.
